The Woza Moya Artist’s Card initiative helps our local artists earn an ongoing passive income. Busisiwe Mayise is a self-taught weaver, she learnt her skill on her own. She started making baskets in 1997 to support her family and sold at the market in Durban. She really loves her work and it is everything to her, and her only source of income. Busisiwe has managed to build a house by selling her baskets and this is somethings she is extremely proud of.
