The Santa Catarina group is made up of Silvia, Julieta, Rebeca, and María Ananí from Pantelhó, Chiapas. Silvia learned backstrap weaving from her mother Polonia, and passed it on to her daughters — turning the craft into an intergenerational practice, a form of expression, and a way to stay connected to their heritage. This print is inspired by Santa Catarina's original backstrap woven work, 'Polonia' — named for the woman who started it all.
