Description

This coffee comes from the volcanic terroir of Poços de Caldas, where nutrient-rich soils and careful natural processing bring out tons of sweetness Brazilian coffee is loved for. Expect a beautifully rounded cup with rich notes of Chocolate Fudge, Toasted Walnut, Red Apple The Terroir Today, our import partners, Osito is fortunate to have their Brazilian headquarters in the city of Poços, where they work closely with many local Mineiro partner producers. Their farms are located both within the municipality itself and as far out as the cities of Araponga, Ervália, and Sericita—situated in the far eastern reaches of Minas Gerais, Brazil’s largest inland state. These regions span distances of up to eight to ten hours by car from our base. The six farmers contributing to this lot reflect the diversity of Brazil’s specialty coffee sector. Their farms range in elevation from 1,050 to 1,150 meters above sea level. Brazil is known for its large-scale coffee farms, and this group exemplifies that range. The smallest, Sítio Serra, covers 50 hectares in total, with 15 hectares actively producing coffee. The largest, Fazenda Vereda—located in the city of São Gotardo, about six and a half hours north—spans 3,000 hectares, with 1,200 hectares planted in coffee. These producers grow several well-known coffee varieties, including Arara, Bourbon, Catuaí, Catucaí, and Mundo Novo. While coffee processing techniques have evolved over time, natural and pulped natural methods remain the most commonly used.
