Description
This unique hat band is made from 15 authentic Steel Wheat Pennies with black deerskin leather ties. The Steel Wheat Penny was a one cent coin minted in the United States only in 1943, due to a shortage of copper during WWII. They were made from zinc-coated steel and feature President Lincoln on one side of the coin and stalks of wheat on the other side. Also known as “Steelies”, “Wartime Cents”, or “Zinc Cents,” the authentic 80+ year-old coins used in our hat bands are a wearable bit of history, making a great conversation piece. All dates on these coins will be 1943. Coin orientation in photos has all of them facing the same direction, but can also be ordered with every other one heads / tails.
