Everything for the love of handwriting". Welcome to Papier Plume. From our shop in New Orleans' French Quarter we have introduced literally thousands of people to the joys of pen and paper. The quality of our products and customer service has made 872 Royal Street something of a mecca for pen lovers, calligraphers, and practitioners of the fine art of personal correspondence.  But it was not always so... In 2001 Patrick Rideau left his career in high tech to share his love for the art and craft of handwriting.  Coming to New Orleans just after Hurricane Katrina, against all advice to the contrary, he signed a lease for a 200-year old building in the heart of the French Quarter and opened Papier Plume. Word of our inks spread quickly and as demand continued to grow, in 2018 we proudly opened our first bottling facility in the Lower 9th Ward, a historic, working-class community that bore the worst of the Katrina levy failures. Pride and passion go into every one of our ink blends as every bottle is a testament to the resilience and creative power of our city.  Ten years after Katrina, inspired by the timeless, vibrant culture and tradition of this city, we created the hugely popular New Orleans Ink Collection We are still at the corner of Royal and Dumaine, sharing our love for handwriting.
