Author Biography Eugene Patterson, now retired, succeeded Ralph McGill as editor of the "Atlanta Constitution" in 1960. He has also been managing editor of the "Washington Post" and, most recently, president and editor of the "St. Petersburg Times." He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1967 for editorial writing.
