Each coin is custom designed with a representation of that particular peak along with its height. These coins are the perfect gift for your favorite Colorado Climber! Name Origination: This grand peak was named after Lieutenant Zebulon Montgomery Pike Jr. and is located in Colorado Springs, CO. Pike first sighted the mountain in November 1806 and named it "Grand Peak." After attempted to climb it, making it as far as Mount Rosa (8 miles southeast), unfortunately, he had to turn back due to no food for two days and climbing in waist deep snow.
