It forms in pegmatites, intrusive igneous rocks, hydrothermal veins and contact metamorphic rocks. It can also form as secondary deposits in sedimentary rocks. Apatite is usually green or blue-green, but it can also occur as yellow, pink, or violet when iron is replaced by manganese ions. Apatite is believed to have powerful metaphysical properties, making it a popular stone for healing and spiritual work.
