Sekhmet was a lion-headed goddess in ancient Egypt, revered as a powerful deity of war, destruction, healing, and protection. Equally feared and worshipped, the lioness Sekhmet was without a doubt one of the most prominent goddesses in the Egyptian pantheon. Sekhmet's name is derived from the root word sekhem (𓋴𓎡𓅓), meaning power or might. Her name, "Sekhmet," translates to " She Who is Powerful” or “The Mighty One", she embodied fierce energy and was both a bringer of wrath and a source of restoration. She was associated with plagues, fire, and the scorching heat of the sun. Sekhmet's ferocity was seen as a force to restore balance (Ma'at) by punishing wrongdoers and cleansing corruption or shaking up stagnation.
