Description
Our handmade paper lanterns are crafted from the bark of Daphne Papyracea, locally known as Lokta, a shrub found at altitudes of 2,000 to 3,000 meters in the mountains of Nepal. Shirisna Shrestha, our head craftswoman, leads the creation of these lanterns with her team by shaping the paper, dying, and painting each design, ensuring every lantern is a unique work of art. We offer a variety of designs and colors, each reflecting the beauty of Nepalese artistry and style. The bark is harvested with environmental awareness to preserve Nepal’s forest ecology. Lokta paper is compostable, allowing these lanterns to return to the earth at the end of their use. By purchasing this product, you are directly supporting and improving the socio-economic conditions of marginalized communities in both rural and urban Nepal. Your support empowers our team of 72 women artisans and contributes to the fight against modern-day slavery in Nepal’s fast fashion industry.
