From French (pronounced goblin), it takes its name from the Gobelins Manufactory, which since the 17th century has produced splendid tapestries in Paris. The different warps and wefts, in different colors, combined with the possibilities of the Jacquard loom, produce very complex and detailed designs, with possible relief effects, and give rise to a very showy fabric, with a heavy consistency, resistant to wear. The yarn used is cotton and polyester, of different sizes, very thin in the warp, and more robust in the weft.
