This postcard is part of a collection we are working on of anthropomorphic vegetable people from 1800's trade cards. Many companies would use "stock images" to catch the eyes of customers or clients so you might see cards with a vegetable or fish being used to sell tea. I can just see this guy regaling his grandchildren with bad dad jokes!
