There’s something about Dreamcatchers I just think are so magical. But where did they come from?I went down a bit of a rabbit hole on this one, so come along on the journey with me. Dreamcatchers are a tradition that originated with the Ojibwe (or Chippewa, as they were known in our home state of Michigan) people, one of the largest Indigenous groups in North America. They were originally created as protective charms, meant to filter out bad dreams and let only the good ones pass through. The webbing in the middle is symbolic of a spider’s web, catching negativity and keeping it away while allowing positivity to flow freely. What I find so incredible about this is the universal appeal of the idea - the concept of effectively putting up a wall to protect our peace is something all of us can relate to.
