History & symbolism Discovered in the 18th century on the Labrador Peninsula in Canada, from which it takes its name, Labradorite was revered by the Inuit peoples who considered it a fragment of the northern lights fallen to Earth. In many shamanic traditions, it is used as a stone of protection and vision. It symbolizes magic, transformation, and the crossing between worlds. Traditional virtues According to lithotherapy, Labradorite is traditionally associated with energetic protection — practitioners attribute to it the ability to filter negative external influences and preserve inner balance. The stone Labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar (tectosilicate family), with a triclinic crystal system and a hardness of 6 to 6.5. Its characteristic optical phenomenon — labradorescence — produces blue, green, golden and sometimes orange flashes by diffraction of light within its internal layers.
