Artist Presentation: “I am a Teotihuacan artist who practices the technique of scheduled ceramics, a technique with more than 5,000 years of tradition in a family of artisans. My great-grandfather was a craftsman, my grandfather and my parents are also artists, and I am the 4th generation of a lineage of artists. My work consists of engraving ceramics with the iconography and symbolism of pre-Hispanic Mexico. The pigments I use are mineral oxides, silicates, and carbonates that I source from the earth. The creation of my work is entirely by hand, and the drawings I engrave on the ceramics are made by hand, making each of my works a unique piece.” This intricately carved mask is not only a beautiful work of art but also a connection to the rich cultural heritage of Mexico.
