Hand carved Soapstone Whale. 8.5" x 4.25" x 4" Hand carved in Kenya, Africa by a group of artisans that is a self help group that also supports an orphanage and pays for education of school children. Dyes are natural and plant based. Carved from Soapstone - a soft rock. As each one is handcrafted by a group of artisans, minor variations in size, color and designs may occur. The "Blue Whale" (mostly based on a northern Right Whale but with a few stylizations). These animals are deeply revered as sacred beings, embodying ancestral spirits ('aumākua), wisdom, and protection.
