Wholesale Arcopal France – Set of 2 vintage "Wildflowers" cocottes with lid

Arcopal is a French brand, born in the 1950s within the Arc International group, in Arques in the Pas-de-Calais. One town, one factory, a glassmaking know-how passed down from generation to generation since the 17th century. The opaline glass that Arcopal popularized is not simple whitened glass. It is an opacified borosilicate glass, obtained by adding opacifying agents melted at very high temperature. The result is a dense material, resistant to thermal shocks, that goes from the refrigerator to the oven without complaint. An industrial feat dressed as an everyday object. These two cocottes are part of the emblematic collections distributed in France in the 1970s and 1980s. The floral pattern, fine and discreet, runs around the perimeter with a lightness that contrasts with the solidity of the material. Stylized roses, small wildflowers, foliage. A motif screen-printed hot, fixed in the mass, that does not fade with time or with washing. The lot includes two matching cocottes. The large one, with its original lid.
