The recipe dates back to the 16th century. Since many “drugs” have become pharmacy-only today and the liqueur would have become too tart and bitter, our master distiller has refined and modernized the recipe. Back to the roots contains many root drugs such as galangal and sweet flag — that's where its name comes from. It also contains spices that are familiar at Christmas time. The liqueur is rounded off with Bensheim aperitif wine and blueberry juice. The latter causes the reddish, slightly purple color. The liqueur is perfect as an aperitif or digestif with heavy dishes.
