Description
Perpetual calendars can be used to mark important dates, like birthdays and anniversaries, that happen year after year. Unlike conventional calendars they do not show days of the week, allowing them to be reused. Our perpetual calendar features many plant species native in eastern North America. Each month in this 12 month calendar features an illustration of 3 different native plants, illustrated in pen and watercolor. The common and latin names for each species are indicated, along with lines for each day of the month. Species include: January - White Pine (Pinus strobus), Eastern Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis), White Spruce (Picea glauca) February - Jack Pine (Pinus banksiana), White Cedar (Thuja occidentalis), Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) March - Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia purpurea), Cattail (Typha latifolia), Skunk Cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus) April - (Trout Lily) Erythronium americanum, White Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum), Ostrich Fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris) May - Mayapple (Podophyllum peltatum), Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis), Pink Lady Slipper (Cypripedium acaule) June - Yellow Lady Slipper (Cypripedium parviflorum) Lupine( Lupinus perennis) Wild Strawberry (Fragaria virginiana) July - Wood Lily (Lilium philadelphicum), Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca), Blue Flag Iris (Iris versicolor) August - Blackeyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta), Wild Blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium), Red Oak (Quercus rubra) September - Frost Aster (Symphyotrichum pilosum ), Wild Blackberry (Rubus allegheniensis), Canada Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis) October - Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana,) Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina), Sugar Maple (Acer saccharum) November - Tamarack (Larix laricina), American Beech (Fagus grandifolia), White Oak (Quercus alba) December - Winterberry (Ilex verticillata), Canada Yew (Taxus canadensis), Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea) Details: -14.25 x 8.5 inches (legal sized paper) -100% recycled paper (SFC) -metal coil and hanging wire -Sustainably printed in the Great Lakes region -A portion of proceeds are donated to organizations dedicated to protecting the Great Lakes Region’s ecosystems.
