An architectural risograph print of City, Utrecht’s oldest surviving cinema. The building is centuries old, but when it was converted into a movie theatre in 1935 it was completely changed into a style somewhere between Art Deco and New Objectivity. Possibly inspired by the American ‘Streamline Moderne’ style. Beautiful details, weird contrasts, impressive ugliness, it can all be an inspiration. Risography is a technique that uses a duplicating machine to print colours separately, layer by layer. Risography uses semi-transparent inks based on vegetable oil. Due to the technology, each print is slightly different, which makes each print unique.
