Melissa, also known as Lemon Balm, is a plant in the mint family that has a smell similar to lemon grass. Used in a diffuser as an aromatherapy ally, the essential oil of Melissa has been known to supporting calming and even those who sometimes have trouble sleeping. Along with recent studies that have shown Lemon Balm - or Melissa - to support cases of anxiety and insomnia, this amazing herb has also shown some support with cold sores and some even with genital herpes. This is due to the constituent within Melissa called rosmarinic acid. Interestingly enough, studies on Melissa have also shown to support those with gastro-intestinal problems such as gas and bloating, as well as general digestion due to its anti-spasm and carminative (anti-gas) properties.
