They show early stone structures and towering steel skyscrapers in Denver, boisterous mining camps in the Rockies, and wagon roads, railroads, and modern highways built through steep valleys and over rugged mountain passes. Accompanying these images are essays on six regions of Colorado, along with a biography on Joseph Collier. No expense was spared on the cover, which measures 12.1" x 13.3". It contains gold foil stamping on the front and sides, and real black cloth wrapped around the spine.
