About the Artist French-born American artist Louise Bourgeois (b. 1911, Paris) is internationally renowned for her psychologically charged sculptures, prints and drawings. Despite living in New York from 1938 until her death in 2010, Bourgeois drew much of her inspiration from her time growing up in France. Bourgeois' work used the body to explore complex themes about the human condition, especially love, memory, sexuality and abandonment. Third Drawer Down first collaborated with her for a retrospective at the Tate in 2008.
