Hemp are harvested during autumn. The branches are cut to size to fit into a steamer. After steaming, fibers are stripped from the woody core. The fibers are then retted for about 3 weeks, cooked, rinsed, hand beaten into pulp, and then finally made into paper. I use this paper to cover my light sculptures, but it can also be use for wedding invitations, scrap booking, card making, printmaking, etc.
