Description
This pair of socks is inspired by ‘Ice skating in a village’, painted in 1610 by the Dutch painter Hendrick Avercamp. To him, painting was more than a profession: being mute by birth (but luckily born in a notable family), it was his main tool for expression & connecting with his surroundings. This explains why Avercamp’s paintings are very narrative and full of subtle anecdotes, which made him a very popular painter already in his own days. In this painting we see crowds of people engaging in all sorts of winter fun, back then a season that lasted almost half a year with lots of snow and ice and nowadays even labelled as the Little Ice Age. Wear, it wash it, love it! 360 degree seamless digital print 75% bamboo, 22% recycled polyester (GRS certified), 3% elastane wash inside out, no bleach, no tumbling one size (sizerange 37-45) giftbox with storytelling: 10x20x1,8cm Courtesy original painting: Rijksstudio & Mauritshuis, The Hague
