The Famous Animals series began with a typo - "Vincent van Goph" - on an art history test by a student of a friend who is an art history professor. Maya Tanagerlou is a punny portrait of writer and activist Maya Angelou. She's depicted as a Scarlet Tanager, a bird found in Angelou's birth state of Missouri. The card features a flying tanager in the background, a nod to "A free bird leaps / on the back of the wind" from Angelou's poem "Caged Bird." This single blank-inside card is 100% made in the USA. It is printed on 100% PCW recycled paper at a wind-powered facility and is paired with a 100% recycled brown Kraft envelope.
