Description
Antique French perfume apothecary dials, dating from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The worn paper labels read "Parfum - Givet - Paris - Fantaisie", showing they were manufactured or distributed as commercial presentation samples in France. Each miniature glass tube is sealed at the tip with distinctive red wax. These setups were utilized as retail presentation samplers or commercial traveling salesman kits. Instead of consumer spray bottles, early perfumers and sales representatives used these thin tubes as a portable master kit to present a variety of available scents to high-end clients or boutique shops. Over the decades, the natural oils inside have aged, darkened, and partially evaporated, leaving behind the rich amber-colored residue and dark concentrated droplets visible today. They are highly collectible pieces of fragrance history. Vials that are still sealed, retaining their original contents or showing noticeable residue, hold significantly greater historical value for curio and shadowbox displays. Each vial measures approximately 2.5" long and .25" in diameter. Please email me with questions.
