Description
Baluch Bird & Gul Rug in Madder Red | 3’3” x 5’9” Tribal, graphic, and full of small protective symbols. This vintage Baluch reads like a field journal of motifs. The ground is a rich madder red with gentle abrash. Marching in rows are octagonal tribal guls with rams-horn details in inky indigo and walnut brown, touched with ivory. Scattered between them you will spot little birds, a favorite Baluch charm for good luck and plenty. Slim latch-hook devices and end panels tighten the rhythm, while a narrow ivory and dark braid border frames the whole piece with a neat finish. Hand knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, circa 1980s, with a smooth, medium-low pile that is sturdy underfoot. At 3’3” x 5’9”, it is an easy fit for an entry, in front of a sofa, under a writing desk, beside a bed, or layered over a larger natural fiber rug. The earthy palette pairs well with leather, wood, and black metal. If you want a compact rug that brings real tribal character without shouting, this Baluch does it beautifully. * Origin: Baluch tribes, E Persia * Materials: Hand knotted wool pile on cotton foundation * Age: Circa 1980s * Size: 3' 3” x 5' 9" (98 x 175 cm)
