The subject is the famous "Big Medicine"- a white buffalo born on the National Bison Range, Flathead Indian Reservation, Montana. Many Native American people honor the white buffalo as sacred. Big Medicine lived on the National Bison Range from 1933-1959. His body is preserved and on display at the Montana Historical Society.
