It is obtained from the animal’s first sheering at around one year of age and it is the source material for some of the finest natural textiles in the world. Lightweight, soft, breathable, moisture-wicking and remarkably thermoregulatory, alpaca fibre is the luxurious as fine cashmere. It is, however, six times better at retaining heat and three times more sustainable than sheep’s wool. It also contains no lanolin.
