Küstenstreicher® Wood Stain is suitable for all woods indoors and outdoors, such as windows, shutters, garden sheds, cladding, half-timbering, doors, fences, balconies and garden furniture. Also suitable for bee houses! Küstenstreicher® Wood Stain is an environmentally friendly, weather-resistant, highly water-repellent coating that permanently protects treated surfaces from UV radiation. Based on natural oils, drip-resistant, open-pored, moisture-regulating and odorless. Hazard and safety instructions can be viewed in the product images. Properties: » solvent-free oil-based » weather-resistant and highly water-repellent » versatile in use » available in many colors Application/Processing: » Surface must be free of grease, clean, dust-free and dry (sanding if necessary). » Processing temperature (including drying) from +8 °C. Wood moisture not over 18%. Air humidity < 60%. » Avoid moisture exposure during the drying period. Final hardness is only achieved after 10 days. Treat gently during this time. Drying occurs by oxygen uptake (oxidation) with a product-typical odor; therefore ensure sufficient tempered air exchange during the drying period. » For softwoods (risk of fungal attack) used outdoors, pre-treat before the first coat with a suitable primer/impregnation. » Acts differently on different substrates. A test coat is required. » Please observe structural wood protection. » Stir contents well before and during use. » Apply the first coat on all sides preferably before installation. Küstenstreicher® Wood Stain can be applied by brushing, spraying, rolling or dipping. Old but sound coatings can generally be recoated. For optimal durability: apply 2 coats indoors and 3 coats outdoors. The coating is dust-dry after approx. 3 hours, recoat-able after 8 hours, and non-blocking after 8–24 hours (drying time may be delayed in cold/wet weather or at high humidity). The wood stain is milky in the can but dries in the specified shade. On certain woods (e.g., oak, larch, cedar, teak, etc.) and cork, color bleed-through from wood constituents may occur. These can be isolated with a suitable sealing primer. Coverage: Approx. 60–85 ml/m², i.e. 1 liter of wood stain covers about 12–15 m² per coat, depending on the wood type and surface (planed or sawn). On grooved wood, consumption may increase (factor 2–3). Lower consumption affects the durability of the coating. Cleaning: Clean brushes and painting tools immediately after use with warm water and soap. Storage: Cool, but frost-free.
