A batch contains about 10 to 15 stones. Topaz is part of the silicate group. It can be found in all colors depending on whether it contains iron, chromium, magnesium, or titanium. Imperial topaz is orange to golden in color. Its name comes from the Greek topazos or "topos azos" meaning "deserted place" where it was supposedly discovered for the first time. "Imperial" is said to come from one of the Russian tsars who appropriated the entire Russian production and associated it with the name "imperial."
