Our sansho shichimi features lightly hand-roasted black sesame seeds combined with hontaka chili pepper, a heirloom variety from over 400 years ago, harvested in Kagawa Prefecture. It is celebrated as Japan's oldest chili pepper and adds a sharp spiciness that doesn't linger. To introduce a layer of complexity we've added budo sansho peppers from the Kishu region, a premium sansho varietal known for its bright, green aroma and a tingling, numbing sensation. We've blended poppy seed, hemp seed and shiso leaf to create a rich, black seasoning like no other. Crafted with a focus on balanced heat, flavor, and fragrance, we fell in love with this elegant blend as it effortlessly enhances your favorite dishes with unique depth and character with just a few shakes.
