Wholesale Teapot "The Nightingale" - inspired by the fairy tale by H.C. Andersen

Stoneware teapot "The Nightingale". From November 28 to 17, 2013, I participated as a guest in an exhibition by Giuliana Cusino in Avigliana (Turin). The title was "Casa Andersen" and the setup evoked the environments where Andersen lived, the historical period, and naturally the thousand characters of his fairy tales. I created this teapot inspired by the fairy tale "The Nightingale". In the fairy tale, the nightingale sings divinely in the garden of the Emperor of Japan, who wants it all for himself. I made the teapot in white stoneware on the wheel. First, I made the various parts: the body, the spout, and the lid, then I assembled the pieces and finally modeled the nightingale and applied the leaves. On the top of the teapot, there is a thick glaze that simulates the water of the pond where the nightingale lived. The handle is also my creation. I learned to work with willow from my grandfather, who was a skilled basket maker. As a child, I followed him in collecting the branches, treating them with water, and peeling them. Once hydrated and cleaned, the flexible branches adapt to the shapes we give them. The glazes are non-toxic and free of lead or harmful fluxes. Dimensions: The teapot has a diameter of 16 cm and is 30 cm high. It is usable as stoneware is a rustic and robust material. It could be washed in a dishwasher, but it is recommended to wash the teapot under running water to avoid damaging the willow handle.
