Description
Tagua nut, also known as vegetable ivory, is a nut that comes from the Tagua palm tree, which grows in Amazon rainforest of Ecuador. It is a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to animal ivory. Every 7 years Tagua palm trees produce their “fruit” in a form of the nuts, which fall naturally on the ground when they ripen. The nuts are collected, dried, their heavy husk cover is removed. Tagua nut is dense, durable and is a natural material, each piece of jewelry made from it is unique. Combined with ACAI berry seeds, grown and exported to Ecuador from Brazil, no two tagua nut necklaces are exactly the same, which means that your tagua nut jewelry will be one-of-a-kind statement necklace. They are all assembled on a artisanal 100% cotton stretchy cords dipped into bee wax that allows for the necklaces to be worn shorter or longer. The cords do not thin out or break with use. Tagua jewelry lasts a long time! Tagua is a Gift of Nature, own it and wear it with pride!
