Crafted with a vintage aesthetic, our oval-shaped Micro Mosaic Earrings originate from Florence, Italy. The art and technique of Byzantine mosaics, unchanged since their inception in Ravenna, Italy in the early 5th century, experienced a revival in 19th-century Florence. This intricate process involves cutting and attaching brightly colored enameled glass threads to form unique and distinctive patterns. However, the painstaking nature of this work means that a diminishing number of expert artisans can produce these exquisite Byzantine mosaics. Mosaic Oval disc is 0.6" in length.
