It is also our first piece introducing an innovative metallic texturing to soft calf leather. On the fourth floor of the grand Chandra Mahal complex of the 18th Century City Palace in Jaipur is the decedent “Shobha Nivas”, a lavish oblong room adorned with gold leaf, precious stones from Italy, glasswork and mirrors. The exquisite symmetrical patterns extend seamlessly from the walls to the ceiling, through to a multitude of ornate arches and columns. The elaborate red, gold and green shapes and lines inspire the opulent geometric pattern in the “Red Jewel”.
