About Ti-a Woven Goods
At Ti-a, every basket begins with a relationship. Founder Simbala has spent more than a decade traveling to northern Ghana, building direct partnerships with skilled weavers in the Bolgatanga region. Each basket is handwoven from durable Kinkanhe (elephant) grass using techniques that have been passed down through generations. The result is a collection of pieces that are both beautiful and deeply practical- baskets designed for everyday living, from farmers markets and gardens to homes and shops across the country. Ti-a works closely with women’s weaving cooperatives and pays above fair trade wages, creating meaningful opportunities for artisans and their families. When Simbala first began working in these communities, women often needed permission from husbands or village chiefs to earn income. Today many of these same women are able to support their families, send their children to school, and have a stronger voice in their communities. It’s a philosophy Simbala believes deeply in: a hand up, not a handout. Each basket carries the creativity of the woman who wove it- no two are exactly alike. And every purchase helps sustain traditional craftsmanship while creating lasting opportunity. Ti-a baskets have become favorites at farmers markets, garden shops, and lifestyle boutiques across the country, where customers are drawn to their durability, beauty, and the story behind them. Your purchase helps lift talent, tradition, and dreams. -Team Tia
