Product : These beautiful scarves are handwoven by women artisans in the Indian Himalayan region using pure cashmere wool. 80 x 200 cm Magnificent off white with bright colourful motifs in the weave. the motifs are traditional to the region but have been re structured. This cooperative was created to develop work and economic stability in an underdeveloped rural region, promoting the passing on of ancestral weaving techniques. The wool used comes from goats raised by nomadic herders and local shepherds on the Himalayan Plateau. The wool is gathered by herders each spring, when the animals lose their soft wool underlayer for the summer. A process that is painless for the animal and sustainable.
