This organic pearled white sorghum meal, known as Jowar in India, is a wonderful healthy addition to your pantry. It is a bulk 6 pound bag. Jowar is globally known as the “new quinoa” for its gluten-free and whole-grain goodness. It goes by the name of Sorghum in English. It is Gluten- Free, rich in fiber, and is a complex carbohydrate that digests slowly. As a result, it leads to stable blood sugar levels. This is a grit or cream of wheat consistency, but it can be ground into a flour (in a Vita-mix or similar), to make breads and roti. You cook it till it reaches the porridge consistency using one-part flour and three parts water. It is lovely with the addition of ghee! If you want to serve it savoury, add jeera (cumin) and salt. For sweet porridge, try honey and milk instead. Adding crushed almonds or other nuts will enhance its nutritional value. We also like it with cheese or bacon for something more hearty!
