Comapeño chile powder is made of dried Comapeño chiles that were harvested and dried on our farm in Boonville, CA. These tiny, spicy chiles were harvested in the fall of 2023. Each jar contains 1 ounce of Comapeño chile powder. This chile powder is a total customer favorite and as far as we can tell, we're the only farm that grows it in the U.S.! Comapeño is a complex chile that has a lot of heat up front, but subsides as you continue to eat. While the heat dies down, the flavor continues to linger. It's hot, citrusy, and a bit acidic. Typically grown in the Veracruz Mountains of Mexico, Comapeño chile is similar to Chile Tepin on the Scoville Scale at 50,000-100,000 Scoville Units. We use Comapeño chile powder in place of cayenne, in Comapeño Carne Adovada, in a pot of pinto beans, and whenever we're looking for more heat.
