Product description

Certified Organic Nasturtium - Edible Garden Jewels South American Spice Meets Driftless Flora Gardens Discover the vibrant beauty of nasturtium flowers, whose peppery bite and stunning colors have delighted gardeners and cooks for over 400 years. Harvested from the certified organic gardens of Keewaydin Farms in Wisconsin's fertile Driftless Region, our Driftless Flora nasturtiums carry forward Andean traditions while thriving in our Midwest climate. Flowers of the Incan Empire Nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus), known as "Indian cress," "Monk's cress," Or "Garden nasturtium," Produces brilliant trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of golden yellow, fiery orange, and deep red. These edible blooms have distinctive spurred petals and a peppery, watercress-like flavor that Spanish conquistadors first encountered in the gardens of Peru. Peak Season Harvest Our nasturtiums are carefully hand-harvested during their abundant summer blooming period, selecting the vibrant flowers at peak flavor. Each bloom is collected in the late morning when the peppery oils are most concentrated, then gently dried using traditional methods that preserve their bright colors and characteristic spicy bite. Celebrated in European Gardens Nasturtium flowers have adorned European gardens since the 16th century, prized for their brilliant colors and distinctive peppery flavor. Traditional cooks have long prepared these colorful blooms as flavorful additions to salads, incorporated them into culinary preparations, or preserved them in vinegars for their sharp, tangy taste. What Makes Our Nasturtiums Special: Organic Quality - Harvested from certified organic land Peak Flavor Harvest - Maximum peppery oils and vibrant colors Botanical Education - Garden wisdom shared when you follow Driftless Flora on Facebook and DriftlessFloraFarm on Instagram Perfect For: Culinary garnishes, edible flower arrangements, herbal vinegars, botanical studies, natural dyeing projects, and connecting with South American garden traditions.
