Description

Come and Take It – This iconic phrase traces its origins to the Battle of Gonzales in 1835, the opening conflict of the Texas Revolution. When the Mexican military demanded the return of a bronze cannon, the Texian militia defiantly refused, declaring, “Come and take it.” In response, Sarah Seely DeWitt and her daughter, Evaline, fashioned a flag depicting a hand-drawn cannon with the words COME AND TAKE IT. Our version of Come and Take It features a full description beneath the cannon, recounting the birth of this now-famous phrase—one that continues to embody liberty, defiance, and the enduring will to stand up for our rights. * Size: 11 ¾" x 36" * Paper type: Acid free paper with fade free ink * Shipping: Prints are rolled in an acid-free poly sleeve and shipped in a protective hard snap seal tube. * Available in different frame styles
