Description
This piece was inspired by Augusta Savage, a Black sculptor involved in the Harlem Renaissance (a revival of Black music, dance, art, fashion, and literature in the 1920s-1930s). In particular, this piece is my cut paper interpretation of The Harp- which debuted at the 1939 world fair. Featuring a row of children singing as the “strings” of the harp, Augusta was inspired by the song- “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by James Weldon Johnson. DETAILS Printed on heavy cotton paper with an archival, fine art, giclee printer. This print is based on an original made of hand-cut, hand-made japanese washi paper. Each piece is signed on the back. To reduce waste, each print is made to order. Note: Colours may vary slightly from what is seen on your screen
