In the 19th century, amateur naturalists preserved their botanical specimens in herbarium collections. Pressed flat and carefully labeled, they served as aids in identifying different species and cultivars. This card features Butterflyweed, a wildflower native to the Midwestern US and one of several varieties of milkweed, a favorite of butterflies and other pollinators. This set of eight A2 (4.24" x 5.5") notecards also includes eight gummed, kraft paper envelopes in the European style, featuring a pointed flap ideal for use with a wax seal or decorative sticker.
