About Jayli Clothing

Jayli Clothing is a small, family-owned business with roots in both music and travel. As we like to say, Jayli was born “Out of the Dust of the Dead.” Our story began when Jay, from Northern California, met Liora, from Cape Town, South Africa, while both were traveling in India. Soon after, Jay-Li (JAYLI Clothing) was created. What started as selling our handmade wares at farmers markets and Grateful Dead shows quickly grew into our first wholesale account—and from there, the journey only blossomed. To this day, we continue to sell at festivals across the West Coast each summer, simply because we love it (and so do our two young daughters). For the past 30 years, we’ve traveled to Nepal and Thailand annually, working closely with the same small, family-owned factories. Over time, we’ve built deep personal and professional relationships with the master cutters, tailors, embroiderers, tie-dyers, and packers who help bring our designs to life. Together, we create high-quality hippie dresses, pants, skirts, patchwork clothing, purses, bags, and accessories. For the past 25 years, our workplace culture—both abroad and at home—has been relaxed, supportive, and creative. While we are not Fair Trade Certified, we are proud to say that our practices ensure all Jayli products are Consciously Made and Fairly Traded. Read their story
