Our tapers are designed to burn off wax at a specific rate and placing them inside a cylinder causes the heat to build up quicker. Therefore, the flame does not have enough time to slowly burn off the wax. Environmental factors like drafts or improper placement (e.g. angled placement) can sometimes cause minimal dripping.
