Product : these graphic white and blue hand woven placemats are made using a traditional loom in Burkina Faso, using the highest quality locally produced cotton. The fabric is transformed into our Storie collection products in our Paris workshop. Set of 2 placemats, 30x42cm, hand loomed cotton. Made in Paris, France. Craft : This fabric is known as Faso Dan Fani, and each design is a woven story, full of symbols. It is made using a generations-old method of hand-weaving practised in West Africa. Faso Dan Fani literally means "woven loincloth of the homeland". The production of this fabric is of great economic and cultural importance in Burkina Faso. Storie produces these objects in order to transmit the knowledge of these traditional crafts, to promote this intangible cultural heritage, as well as economic autonomy of these craftspeople.
