Originating from the tropics of Africa and Asia, basil is now widespread worldwide. The Egyptians already used basil (also known as king's herb) in ancient times as a medicinal plant that binds free radicals and thus contributes to the regeneration of body cells. It also reliably serves as a superfood for joint pain or stress and has a soothing effect. We source our basil, like many of our spices, from local small farmers in the Atlas Mountains, where it is harvested by hand with great effort and air-dried.
