The flat pea is a true rediscovery! Long forgotten, now back on your plate: The flat pea has been one of the most exciting discoveries in the project for us. Hardly known, yet so versatile, robust in cultivation, and full of flavor – a true regional alternative to the chickpea. Some also call it the "German chickpea" – we think: It is a heroine in its own right! Our organic flat peas in the 750g pack come from Hof Rumpel, a small farm with a lot of experience and enthusiasm for rare crops. There, a lot of care is taken to give old varieties a future again. Flat peas taste strong, slightly nutty, and earthy, remain pleasantly firm when cooked, and are excellent for hearty dishes.
